We are happy to share our review of 2016 with you!

In terms of sustainability, 2016 was an important and successful year for Harold's. After the change to nickel-free fittings and the complete switch to organic cotton in the past years, this year we were able to convert our most important leathers from semi-vegetable to 100% vegetable tanned leather. This means that for the first time over 50% of the collection consists of purely vegetable tanned leathers. In relation to the South American products it is even 70%.

The changeover to purely vegetable tanned leather proved to be quite complex in cooperation with our partners. Apart from price and quality problems, the most important thing was to build up the confidence of the tanners in the process. Another aspect was to ensure the permanent availability of organic tanning mixtures from sustainable cultivation.

In the ecologization of our materials we have taken a big step in the right direction - the systematic reduction and elimination of chrome in leather. However, this also means that further steps will follow.
