Our production in Germany

Story

In the postwar period, Harold's primarily produced bags for other brands. These contract manufacturing projects formed the basis for the development of Harold's own bag brand in the 1960s and 1970s. However, in the 1970s, industrial customers increasingly began to look abroad. This process dragged on into the 1990s. From around 1995, only finishing and repair work was carried out in Obertshausen. However, the remaining skilled craftsman services secured our expertise and the continued availability of our most important sewing machines and production tools. Through long-standing cooperation with partners in India and Colombia, we were able to expand our expertise.

We learned how local, cultural, and historical conditions can influence the production of bags. Since 2010, we have resumed producing bags in our own factory in Obertshausen. We focus on models that systematically consider local conditions. These models result from the intersection of simple design, material availability, local cost structures, regionality, and individualized craftsmanship. We produce authentically local bags that can only be created in this form and expression in our own workshop.
